Walk your blues away

As a licensed mental health counselor, I am not authorized by law to prescribe pharmaceuticals. That’s fine. After a few months of treatment at Bodymind Counseling if I find a patient still needs a prescription, I suggest she go to her doctor. However, I rarely meet someone who does. After she has used my prescriptions to reduce or eliminate substances that cause depression and anxiety and introduced healthy behaviors such as walking to her life, psychopharms simply become unnecessary. That’s not to say a patient doesn’t have real problems that we talk through to find solutions, but when she feels better physically, she can deal with issues better emotionally. There’s just no separating body from mind.—MR
